How accurate are the results?
Results are pulled directly from NHTSA's official vPIC API. Coverage includes U.S. market recalls; some older or imported vehicles may have limited or no data.
Can I check recalls without a VIN?
No. A valid 17-character VIN is required to query NHTSA's database. The VIN decodes the vehicle's exact configuration to return relevant recall campaigns. If you only know the vehicle's make, model, and year, you can also use our free VIN decoder to look up factory specifications first.
